The Metropolitan Knoxville Airport Authority (MKAA) is seeking a Director of Parking and Ground Transportation. MKAA operates McGhee Tyson Airport (TYS) and Downtown Island Airport (DKX). In this role, you will lead the strategic and operational management of our parking and ground transportation operations. This critical role involves overseeing the financial and operational aspects of parking services, ground transportation, and related areas, ensuring they align with MKAA’s strategic objectives. The Director will foster effective relationships with internal teams, external vendors, and other stakeholders to deliver exceptional service and drive continuous improvement. This leadership position is integral to maintaining the efficiency, profitability, and customer satisfaction of MKAA’s parking and ground transportation services.
As a key member of the finance team, the Director will be responsible for financial planning, analysis, and reporting within the parking and ground transportation operations. This includes managing budgets, forecasting, variance analysis, and ensuring revenue optimization strategies are in place. The Director will also oversee parking asset management, develop and execute strategies for revenue generation, and ensure customer experience standards are met. The ideal candidate will demonstrate an analytical, customer service, and strategic mindset enhanced with strong interpersonal and communication skills and use their deep understanding of parking systems and ground transportation logistics to enhance service delivery and operational efficiency.
Key responsibilities include overseeing contractual relationships with consultants and agencies, and ensuring compliance with all relevant agreements and regulations. The Director will be expected to manage one direct report, work collaboratively with crossfunctional teams to optimize financial performance, improve customer satisfaction, and execute strategies that drive growth. The role requires a high degree of financial acumen, a proven track record in managing complex projects, and the ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership and multiple stakeholders. The Director will also play a key role in planning and staffing for special events, ensuring that parking and transportation services meet the needs of visitors and the community.
Minimum Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in finance or related field from an accredited college.
· 7 to 9 years’ related parking experience, with airports, parking consultants, or parking operators.
· 1 to 3 years of people management experience preferred.
· Prior experience in contract cost analysis, budgeting, estimating, and/or forecasting.
· Experience supporting finance within the operations, construction, or manufacturing areas of a business.
· Strong business acumen, financial analysis skills, and a deep understanding of parking and ground transportation operations are essential.
· Proficiency in tools like Microsoft Excel and Power BI, along with the ability to lead multifunctional teams, will be crucial.
Salary & Benefits
The starting salary range for this position is $112,246 - $145,920. An exceptional candidate may be eligible to receive a starting salary slightly above the range with approvals. MKAA offers a competitive benefit package for this position including medical/dental benefits, disability/life insurance, a 401(a)-retirement program and relocation assistance.
